ABOUT Ken

“I started gardening when I was about 5 years old with my grandmother and great-grandmother,” says the Los Angeles-based Kenneth Sparks. Sparks, who grows everything from cucamelons to oranges, has become popularly known as The Farmer Ken.
Featured in a wide array of publications, notably the LA Times, San Diego Tribune, Modern Farmer, and recently Spectrum News on LA, The Farmer Ken offers garden consultation, instillation, and education along with his organic, pesticide-free produce grown year-round via a series of levels on his terrace, and fruit trees, with aims of starting a community garden.
In his burgeoning “food forest” features over 70 trees, and mimics the ecosystem of an actual forest where trees of varying heights co-mingle with shrubs and vines.
